Competition Heats Up at the 2011 Cast Iron Chef Cook-Off
The 2011 Cast Iron Chef match was as exciting as it was beautiful......and tasty! Five
very talented teams competed to assemble a winning dish in 90 minutes,
with Erin Crobar of Finn and Porter declared the winner of $500 first
prize money. His celebrity Sous Chef Russ Klave, the
owner of Fuddruckers, was the proud recipient of a fabulous BBQ
generously donated by the Axman.
Each
team was given an identical mystery box with Blue Moon beer and a goat
roast, as well as money to spend on produce at the West Lawn Market. After a bit of a late start, caused by the injured but brave Sheila Callahan of Mountain FM, things really heated up! Sheila was Sous Chef to 2nd place winner Casey Stekly of Silk Road, who was awarded $300.

Chai of Sa Wad Dee worked his Thai magic along with the SBC's own
board chair Susan Estep as his Sous Chef! They were awarded the 3rd
place ribbon and Som Chai took home $200.
  A
novel dish was presented by Creekhouse Chuckwagon Chef, Ned Larson and
KECI TVs own Heidi Mieli cheered him on with encouragement and
enthusiasm.
Montey Colby of Blue Canyon had the true
celebrity Mrs. Montana Kila Reynolds helping him out, and they received
an Honorable Mention along with the Chuckwagon team.
A
good time was had by all, a large crowd listened, learned and tasted,
and it was truly a memorable event celebrating creativity with local
ingredients at the Western MT Fair.
