About ALPS Corporation:
ALPS was created by attorneys in response to the insurance crisis of the mid-1980s and its adverse effects on the legal community. When legal malpractice insurance was unaffordable or, in some cases, unavailable to attorneys, ALPS was the solution. Since then we have dedicated ourselves to constant improvement by looking at how our services are offered, expanding our offerings to more people, and providing continued education and professional enrichment to the community we serve. Today ALPS provides lawyers' professional liability insurance to over 12,500 attorneys nationwide. We manage more than $125 million in investments. Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:
• Installation of water coolers to replace bottled water • Use only 100% recycled paper products including everything from letterhead to toilet paper. • Initiate practices to use the internet and email for invoicing and correspondence instead of paper. • Purchased plates and silverwear from thrift stores to replace paper products. • Installed motion lights • Installed flush-o-meters • Installed compact fluorescent • Replaced large building equipment with more energy efficient equipment • Replace lead balasts with electronic balasts. • Replace windows (as needed) with energy efficient windows. • Encourage and award bike/bus/walk week • Started a recycling program in the building for our tenants • Track energy use to help determine cycles and plan ahead.
