Hangin Art Gallery & Coffee House, Arlee, Montana

About Hangin Art Gallery & Coffee House:
We opened the Hangin Art Gallery in July 2003 as a community development project in Arlee, at the southern entrance to the Flathead Indian Reservation. Our goals then, and now, are: to make the talents of local artists, writers and musicians visible and to assist them in marketing their work; to support local and regional growers, ranchers and suppliers; to encourage the arts in our community; and to serve Fair Trade Organic coffees and healthy organic and natural foods.

Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:

All of the artwork, products and books we sell are created by local artists, writers and suppliers. Ninety percent of these items come from a 45 mile radius of Arlee. Wherever possible, we source our food supplies from local and regional growers, ranchers and companies. Fifty percent of these items come fromo a 45 mile radius of Arlee - and 85% of them come from a 150 mile radius. We also provide an inviting, artistic center for many community activities that support the arts including an after school art program sponsored by the Arlee CDC, community school poetry workshops, concerts by the Arlee School choir, and most recently providing rehearsal space for the new Indigenous Summer Theater project. We support local musicians by providing monthly music and dinner evenings, and also provide space for a monthly open bluegrass jam. We support our local Jocko Valley Farmers Market, and local non-profit groups, by providing free space for the season market, and providing commercial kitchen space, tables and food service serving items for the non-profit groups that sell dinner at each market to raise money for their organizations.
