Real Cooking

About Real Cooking:
We believe that for people to truly regain control of their own health, it is essential to reconnect them with the food they eat, to the people who produce it. So we buy food from local organic farmers whenever possible, and encourage our clients to do the same. This food is delicious. Even better, it nourishes our bodies at a deep level. We have seen that shifting our diet to a more traditional way of eating is not only possible, but is the foundation of good health.

Real Cooking exists to assist individuals and families with their transition to eating and cooking whole foods via our following services:  holistic nutritional consulting, kitchen cleanouts, nutrition label education with guided grocery shopping tours, meal plans to address specific health concerns, and cooking instruction and demonstrations to show clients how to prepare food to maximize taste, nutrition, and digestibility. We’ll even prepare staple foods or whole meals for clients when they can’t find the time to do it themselves through our personal chef services.

Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services:
We educate our clients and encourage sustainability through our holistic nutritional consulting sessions. The following is a list of all that we do to further this mission:
• educate on the importance of eating locally and sustainably
• discuss why supporting local economies and businesses are so important
• acknowledge the value of knowing who your farmer is and how your food is grown and processed
• provide awareness of social issues that directly impact client’s dietary and lifestyle decisions (GMO crops, etc)
• provide clients with a local shopping guide - a reference for where to buy wholesome, locally prepared foods
• Our office recycles and we buy recycled products, encouraging clients to do the same, while reducing our amount of office waste
• We discourage the use of plastic and provide clients with alternatives for food transportation and food storage. We also give clients recommendations for water filters and/or recycled containers so that plastic water bottle consumption is minimized
• Because we want our clients to be exposed to a limited amount of toxins, we encourage the use of environmentally friendly cleaning products for their health and that of our planet
• We have established a “buying club” to provide clients with a way to purchase food in bulk (direct from farmers), saving them money, helping the local economy, supporting farmers, and limiting the use of fossil fuels
• We encourage clients to volunteer at local CSAs
