About Tipu's Tiger: Tipu's Tiger is the Missoula source of East Indian vegetarian cuisine. At Tipu's Tiger, Inc. we strive to provide a healthy, beautiful dining experience characterized by delicious food and exceptional service in an environment where we can practice kindness, compassion, clarity and tolerance, build friendships and nourish personal growth while working together. Sustainable Practices, Products, & Services: We seek to create an economically viable living business that models a friendly, team-based work environment and set an example for building a healthy community. We are a small business (owned by ordained Buddhists) started in 1997 to provide healthy, tasty, vegetarian food in friendly atmosphere. We also provide wholesale chai to local coffee shops.
Tipu's practices sustainability by:
*Providing an all vegetarian menu with vegan options (vegetarian diets provide health benefits and reduce the environmental impact of food consumption by reducing the amount of land, water and energy required to produce food)
*Offering wheat free and dairy free options
*Using locally grown ingredients when available
*Using organic ingredients when feasible
*Use natural lighting via a sky light and window when possible
*Working to reduce energy and water usage
*Recycling paper, cardboard, aluminum, and steel
*Recycling cooking oil with Montana Biodiesel helping to power the Biobus and reduce air pollution
*Using restored timber and reused steel when remodeling the restaurant
*Using a grease trap and biobugs to dispose of grease waste
*Using a team based approach to management
*Creating a friendly, caring work environment
*Supporting community organizations like WORD and the Native Forest Network
